World ocean investigation |
The radar (center) and optical image of the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific areas, acquired by the SICH-1 radar and MSU-M sensor. The radar image shows (at the area of the S'enfuegos Harbour, Cuba) an oil slick 100 km long, which may have resulted from the surfactant-polluted sea surface. The radar surveillance of the heavily polluted sea surface permits to reveal such pollutions and to take appropriate steps to eliminate them regardless of the illumination conditions, cloud cover, etc.
